VERMONT MIRACLE PARK
Despite the neighborhood’s challenges of poverty, crime, social equity and injustice, design proposal seeks for things to celebrate and embrace in the neighborhood. Several existing elements were identified which could have been neglected and intentionally avoided. HKLA started developing a park design to introduce the value of creativity, leadership, positivism, stewardship, and resiliency through hidden artistic messages.
Vermont Miracle Park not only provides a valuable open space for this underserved community but also offers the opportunity to welcome visitors of all backgrounds, ages, genders, cultures, races, and abilities. The process of learning the value of hope, positivism, and stewardship while playing in the park and finding hidden messages with others will enable children and other members of the community to understand different perspectives of life. They will learn to respect others by playing together and sharing the messages of hope they find in the park.
