UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, RIVERSIDE STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER

Anchored at the northeast corner of the intersection of two key campus axes - the Carillon Mall and the Arts Mall, the Student Success Center building frames a visual corridor for each mall, creating a central campus hub for gathering and intellectual conversation.

The landscape design blends into the surrounding environment by creatively utilizing campus standard planting palettes and hardscape paving materials, and carefully designing outdoor spaces with programs that will encourage students and faculty to enjoy the Southern California climate from all sides of the building.  The project re-introduces porous multi-level circulations, pedestrian pathways, and service/fire/emergency vehicle access without obscuring the project’s vernacular landscape and outdoor spaces. Sustainable, creative, and integrated storm water mitigation design, low maintenance landscape design in highly activated outdoor space, and seamless indoor-outdoor connections transform the campus with excitement for students and faculties.
