TARANTULA HILL BREWING

The stark and corporate feeling of the property’s previous state was most apparent in the massive architectural presence of the building overhang. By creating organic/geometric shapes and adding additional levels to the outdoor space, the front facade became more gradual and inviting place for visitors.

Careful consideration and coordination were undertaken at the upper deck to provide a transition from the existing site to the multi-level programed spaces. Amenities such as a turfed family play area and an amphitheater with a fireplace create opportunities for using the space at all hours. Vine planting with hops creates screening from adjacent properties. Corten steel handrails, soft planting material, contemporary pavers, wood decking, and gravel mulch helped bring a more temporal characteristic to the project.
