CAJON HIGH SCHOOL
The landscape surrounding the new classroom and administrative buildings at Cajon High School aims to redefine the campus identity by extending educational, social, and recreational spaces outdoors. It caters to individual needs, providing areas for relaxation, small group interactions, club activities, and large gatherings. The design draws inspiration from natural processes like stalactite/stalagmite creation. The Canyon space, beneath the iconic roof structure, is characterized by chaos and roughness, reflecting the pride and spirit of Cajon High School. The landscape features driftwood benches, cobblestone pavers, and plant life emerging from rocks, creating a mysterious and awe-inspiring atmosphere.
An urban agriculture zone meets Living Building Challenge criteria, provides a new program for students, staff, and the community. This space includes a pollinator garden, aligning with LEED habitat criteria. Overall, the design establishes a dynamic, flexible, and inviting outdoor environment, symbolizing a new home for Cajon High School.
